Our Program
Since 2015, Camp Madrid has been a terrific way for kids to learn Spanish while enjoying the summertime. Campers spend each day moving from one activity to the next, designed to provide a dynamic immersion experience. The curriculum changes every week allowing multiple week campers the opportunity to continue their progress. (See more below.)

Camp Director Kathleen QuinnAs a mother of two bilingual children and an educator working in a bilingual school in Spain, I can not stress the benefits of learning a second language at an early age enough. As such opportunities are limited for students in Delaware, I aim to meet this need with a quality program targeted specifically at young learners.

Native Teachers from Madrid, SpainStudents will be taught in small groups by visiting Native Spaniards from Nuestra Señora del Pilar School in Madrid, Spain. Our enthusiastic teachers will immerse your child in the world of Spanish langage and culture through fun and engaging activities.

Reduced class sizes and lessons planned on the principles of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) will be the keys to your child's successful progression during their time at Camp Madrid.
Los Pequeños (those entering preschool and kindergarten) learn Spanish through teacher led group activities as well as free play allowing for lots of one on one time with the Spanish teachers. Songs, crafts, games, stories, drama and dancing are all part of a typical day. Los Niños (those entering 1st through 3rd grade) and Los Mayores (those entering 4th through 6th grade) are presented with a theme each week around which all language learning activities are designed while incorporating history, culture, science, geography, the arts and more. In other words, students learn and discover through use of the Spanish language. Mornings are typically spent in the classroom while afternoons are dedicated to workshops, games and movies. Additionally, all groups will have weekly excursions (weather dependent) to local points of interest on foot. |
